What to Expect
So you have a match here at PNW Pool Thing! We’re excited to have it. To make things go smoothly here’s a quick breakdown of what you can expect.
1. You’re welcome to show up 1 hour before the scheduled start time, and preferably at least a half hour before start time. Warm up, let the traffic stress dissipate, get comfortable, and fill out a short player questionnaire.
2. No blue Master’s, Predator or Kamui Chalk. We have Gray Masters available and a couple pieces of Taom are floating around. We allow any color Taom, Pagulayan or Ghost chalk. This is just the nature of having beautiful Gray Simonis cloth on the table. Simonis is one of our sponsors and we try to have the cloth in as good of condition as possible, every single match.
3. Speaking of the cloth, chances are the table will play a bit differently than you’re used to. If you primarily play in public places this table might seem like it’s a bit ‘slippery’- the spin doesn’t bite on the rails as much and the cueball will follow the tangent line a bit longer before it grabs. It gets cleaned before every match. Public places often serve greasy finger foods and don’t clean their tables nearly as often.
4. This is your match. Not only is this a great way to challenge yourself, it’s a great way to not only promote yourself as a player but also anything else you’d like to promote! Do you have a business? Does someone in your family have a business? Do you have a sponsor? Do you have an event to promote? Let us know! Come prepared with information about it and we’ll promote it during the broadcast.
5. It’s ok to bring a spectator or two. Feel free to bring anything you’d like to drink and store it in the mini fridge during your match.
6. Do your best to respect both yourself and your opponent by keeping use of your phone to a minimum during your match. The players that perform best are the ones who are the most present. We’ve seen it over and over- the phone is a huge distraction and it destroys focus. We’ve seen players use their phone to get coaching during the match, players wanting to be in the chat during the match, you name it. If you’re trying to be better at the sport you’ve got to be able to focus for an extended period.
Let us know if you have any questions!
